Bidders and visitors were treated to a varied range of tools, equipment and associated ephemera of workshop, garage and office life at the most recent Shouler & Son sale at its County Auction Rooms in Melton Mowbray.
The auction last week (10 November) saw over 450 lots under the hammer during the all-day General Household,Vintage & Collectables sale.
Visitors to the sale room saw 238 registered online and in person bidders vie for lots which began at 10am with comprehensive array of workshop-cum-garage related light engineering machinery and associated equipment.
As the auction progressed through the day, the focus moved ’indoors to ’lots of domestic furniture and upholstery via lots of white goods.
A number of office filing cabinets were to be had, as well as a lot comprising vintage Olympic and Smith Corona typewriters.
There was the usual array of boxed-lots of household crockery items too in the sale. Among other boxed lots were Scalextric sets, vinyl albums from the easy listening genre, and a collection of railway-themed DVDs.
The next auction is the Antiques, Vintage & Collectables sale on 08 December.
Ian King, Shouler & Son County Auction Rooms Manager, advises that the December sale is, traditionally, a popular event in the calendar for local dealers and auction fans from the general public.
He says, “It’s a chance to seek out original, often quirky, Christmas presents.
“And in coming in the week following annual celebrations in the town that are the Christmas Fatstock Show & Sale at Melton Mowbray Market and the Melton Christmas Tree Festival, we always try to carry on the festive spirit at our December auction.”
Auctions are open to members of the public, dealers and general visitors, but online or in-room bidders must pre-register. For more details of the December auction or to register as a bidder, see countyauctionrooms.co.uk/auctions/.
