A total of 250 online and saleroom bidders witnessed an eclectic ensemble sell well at the latest Antiques, Vintage & Collectables auction at the County Auction Rooms of Shouler & Son in Melton Mowbray last week (22 September).

The auction started at 10am and got off to a good start with a fine selection of silver.

By the day’s end of the auction’s 528 lots at 6pm, star performers ranged from equestrian oil paintings, a Young Chang lacquered piano, a 19^th century overmantel mirror, Royal Albert ‘Lady Carlyle’‘ dinner service and coffee set, to early 20^th Century Liberty & Co oak dining furniture, and more recent Duresta Hornblower sofas, as well as display cases of 19^th Century examples of avian taxidermy, and modern Charlie Bear Teddy collections.

Lots came in to meet their estimated range of values but, as is the cut and thrust of any live auction room - whether in the flesh or online - bidding momentum saw bargains to be had across the day.

The sale was conducted by Shouler & Son Partner & Auctioneer, Ben Shouler, and Ian King, County Auction Rooms Manager.
